A Star is Born (1937)

A young woman (Janet Gaynor) comes to Hollywood with dreams of stardom, but achieves them only with the help of an alcoholic leading man (Fredric March) whose best days are behind him. Directed by William A. Wellman

    • I haven’t seen the Judy Garland version which apparently is a musical. I’m guessing the two films are quite different. I also really liked this film and was surprised by how dark it actually was. I think William Wellman is becoming one of my favorite directors.
